How to avoid excessive stickiness in polychloroprene compounds

An appropriate mixing of polychloroprene is the single most important factor for obtaining a good polychloroprene processing.

In the case of SN 232, which has the characteristics of  good plasticity and even a good elasticity E&V recommend to avoid excess of plasticizer and in particular those of aromatic type : Lincol DOS among the many esters considered, it is the one that gave the best performances compared to plasticizers  from oils. Esters like DOS give the CR good flexibility at low temperatures. It also gives good dispersion to HAF-type carbon blacks.

Lincol DOS reduces the risk of dimensional problems in calendered films. The recommendation to obtain dimensional stability in the polychloroprene calendered sheet is to raise the temperature and in the same way that of the third cylinder with consequent causes of stickiness

A specific  product that is taking part to obtain the best CR mixing is a processing aid suitable and tailor made for Polychloroprene.

Polyplastol 4: This product has a melting pint range: 55°C-65°C. Right product that can be easily added in the compound .

If the stickiness persists, it can be added to the open mill . Thanks to its higher molecular  weight the product can be added till 3 PHR without any problem of blooming.

Polyplastol 4 does not affect metal bonding and also interference with adhesive agents like resins, or some based in sodium salts

During injection and compression moulding a CR compound based on SN 232+ Lincol DOS + Polyplastol 4 can even solve some problems occurred mainly dimensional factor.
